Ian W.A. Cargill is an Associate in the Firm’s Dispute Resolution and Private Client practice groups. He graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Economics from St. John’s University, New York, in 2017, before obtaining a Bachelor of Laws (Honours) from City, University of London, United Kingdom, in 2019.
With a dissertation focused on Anti-Money Laundering and Terrorism Financing legislation, Ian went on to earn a Master of Laws degree with Distinction and Commendation from the same institution in 2020. He was called to both The Bahamas Bar and the Bar of England and Wales in 2021.
Throughout his legal career, Ian has managed commercial, civil, and occasional criminal matters from inception through determination before the Supreme Court and Magistrates Court. He has also assisted senior counsel in significant landmark proceedings and represented clients in complex, high-stakes disputes, while maintaining a strategic focus on alternative dispute resolution.
Beyond private practice, Ian has served as a Commissioner of The Bahamas Trade Commission and Chairman of Regional Trade. In this capacity, he has contributed to trade policy development, legislative consultation, and international representation, including most recently attending a seminar in Beijing, China, at the Academy for International Business Officials on Small and Medium Enterprise Management in 2025. Ian brings proven litigation experience, disciplined work habits, commercial insight, and a strong commitment to quality client service.
