Theominique D. Nottage, MCIArb is a senior associate in the Admiralty, Shipping & Aviation, Litigation and Dispute Resolution and Trusts and Private Client practice groups. She has a strong foundation in dispute resolution, particularly arbitration.
With a Master of Laws with Merit in Comparative and International Dispute Resolution from the School of International Arbitration, Queen Mary, University of London (London, England), as a Chevening Scholar, Theominique has received specialised ADR training that includes a Distinction in International Award Writing from both her alma mater and the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (London, England).
Theominique also holds a Bachelor of Arts with Integral Honours in International Studies and Spanish from Le Moyne College (Syracuse, New York), a Bachelor of Laws (Honours) from The University of the West Indies (Cave Hill, Barbados), a Legal Education Certificate from the Council of Legal Education’s Eugene Dupuch Law School (Nassau, The Bahamas), and recently completed the United Nations Fellowship Regional Course in International Law for Latin America and the Caribbean (Santiago, Chile), which adds depth to her understanding of complex cross-border legal matters.
Since being admitted to the Bar of the Commonwealth of The Bahamas in October 2015, Theominique has held roles in both the public and private sectors. She formerly served as an Arbitration Consultant to the Government of The Bahamas, leading initiatives to establish The Bahamas as a premier jurisdiction for ADR in the Americas with her achievements including legislative reform, the enactment of the UNCITRAL Model Law and the creation of collaborative partnerships with key industry stakeholders like the Hong Kong International Arbitration Centre.
Besides her experience with domestic and international arbitration, Theominique also has experience with civil and commercial litigation, environmental law, international trade law, and intellectual property matters. Recognising the value of pro bono work, Theominique has also assisted a local non-profit organisation with drafting environmental protection legislation.
An active contributor to the global dispute resolution community, Theominique has held leadership roles in the CIArb Young Members Group Global Steering Committee and previously served as Co-Chair of Young ICCA, 2019 – 2021. She is currently the Deputy Chair of the ITA Americas Initiative Caribbean Task Force and holds the professional designation of Member of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators.
In addition to her professional career, Theominique is a dedicated member of the Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated® Eta Psi Omega Chapter and enjoys reading and travel.
